9/11 Day of Service

Saturday, September 12th, 2026 from 9:00am to 2:00pm

About

Join the Center for Leadership & Civic Engagement (CLCE) for 9/11 Day of Service as we serve our community in honor of those who gave their all that day!

Days of Service are an easy way to volunteer in the community without having to volunteer on your own or navigate finding potential sites on your own.  The schedule for a day of service looks like this:

  • Check-In @ MCSC Black Box Theater (9:00-9:15 AM)
  • Kick-off with Keynote Speaker in MCSC Black Box Theater (9:15 AM - 10:00 AM)
  • Travel to Service Sites (10:00 AM - 10:30 AM) - some sites are within walking distance, some may require you to drive yourself - read the details for each site!
  • Service (10:30 AM - 12:30 PM - two hours)
  • Travel back to campus! (12:30 PM - 1:00 PM)
  • Reflection & Closing (1:00-2:00 PM)

You should register to attend the Check-In & Kick-off, ONE service site, and the Reflection & Closing. You will receive 4 hours of verified volunteer credit for each day of service you attend this year! Since this is occurring on a Saturday, you can park in the parking deck or in the parking lots surrounding the Main Campus Student Center for the Kick-off and Reflection portions of the day. This will make it easy for you to get to your service site as well. We encourage car pooling to assist those who may not have a car on campus.

Transportation to volunteer sites may or may not be provided but there are some sites within walking distance or on campus.  Be sure to read all of the details before choosing your service "shift" or site.  Some sites have specific dress requirements or online volunteer forms that must be completed before you participate.  Should you have any questions please feel free to reach out to Alex Dennis, Senior Assistant Director in the Center for Leadership & Civic Engagement - dennisa15@ecu.edu

All participants will receive a snack bag to take with them during service. Volunteers will receive a FREE Pirates Give t-shirt at the conclusion of the Reflection portion of the day.
